Tosca, a global leader in sustainable reusable packaging, needed a website that could match the scale and innovation of their business. Their old site had become overloaded with disorganized content, difficult navigation, and an inconsistent design system—resulting in a fragmented user experience across international markets.

With global expansion accelerating, Tosca needed a flexible, scalable platform to unify their messaging, support multiple languages, and drive measurable business outcomes.

Strategy and Process

Our work with Tosca began by taking stock of their existing digital ecosystem. We discovered that the old site used a WordPress multi-language plug-in to approximate a multi-site experience—allowing different countries to create unique layouts and content without a true master structure. While flexible, this approach created major challenges with scalability, security, and consistency, because the plug-in was only designed for translation, not full site management.

We recognized an opportunity to set a stronger foundation for global growth. Rather than patch the old system, we proposed building a true WordPress multi-site from the ground up, powered by a shared library of custom blocks and plug-ins. This would create efficiencies across regions while unlocking the flexibility for individual countries to tailor their content and layouts.

Our product design team conducted a page-by-page audit of the existing site, identifying areas to streamline content, rethink navigation, and rebuild the user flow to minimize clicks and maximize clarity. At every step, our focus was on making the site faster, easier to navigate, and more intuitive for Tosca’s users—while also more effectively communicating Tosca’s leadership in pooling and sustainable packaging.

Building a Foundation for Global Growth

We reimagined the site architecture with a streamlined navigation system, condensing and organizing the content to create a more focused user journey. To help communicate complex concepts like pooling, we incorporated lightweight, interactive animations built as Lottie files—enhancing storytelling without sacrificing speed.

We developed a fully custom design system, ensuring that every component was consistent, scalable, and ready to support Tosca’s future growth. The codebase was built without third-party plug-ins, keeping the site lightweight, secure, and optimized for performance—even within a WordPress environment.

Beyond design and development, we also collaborated closely with the Tosca team to organize, optimize, and upload all site content, creating a fully turnkey handoff. We provided complete documentation for the custom block library, empowering Tosca’s marketing team to build and expand pages independently. Finally, we developed a strategic rollout plan for launching localized versions of the site, ensuring a smooth expansion across global markets.
